Readability Score
What it does and what it gives you
Measures how easily your text reads. You get Flesch Reading Ease, Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level and the Dutch Flesch-Douma score. It also detects long sentences, passive voice and unnecessary filler words.
How to use it
- Edit a post.
- Open Readability in the meta box.
- Review the score and specific improvement points.
- Split long sentences, replace passive constructions and avoid jargon.
- Repeat until the indicator turns green.
Example
Your text about "mortgage advice" scores 35 (difficult). The tool shows that 40% of your sentences are longer than 20 words. Split those sentences and use more lists.
Potential issues & solutions
- Score is too high: for specialized B2B content the text can be more difficult; focus on clear structure instead.
- Dutch text analyzed as English: check Settings → General to ensure the site language is correct.
